Part 3: Document Management and Medical Business Process Automation

Medical paper charts are often several inches thick, containing only a small percentage of actual progress notes.  The myriad of papers and forms such as telephone notes, test results, referral forms, flow sheets, medical intake sheets, and authorized documents must be identified, and decisions need to be made on which of those items to transfer to the electronic chart.  Participants will have the opportunity to develop strategies on how to incorporate these documents into an EHR.  Participants will also be able to analyze their own document needs, decide what papers are required in the electronic chart, and determine the best document management plan for the practice.  Other workflow analysis steps that may not be initially considered in EHR implementation projects will also be covered.
